Duguay, 68, played 860 NHL games (1977-78 to 1988-89). Most of those games were with the New York Rangers, but perhaps his two best seasons came with the Detroit Red Wings.

With Duguay clashing often with Rangers coach Herb Brooks, New York management traded him to Detroit in 1983, along with Eddie Mio and Eddie Johnstone, for Willie Huber, Mark Osborne and Mike Blaisdell.

In his first season with Detroit, he netted 33 goals and 47 assists for 80 points. The next season, he posted a career-high 89 points on 38 goals and 51 assists. He played one more season with the Red Wings before they moved him to the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was traded before the 1985-86 NHL trade deadline for Doug Shedden.
