Veteran defenseman Tyler Myers has issued an ultimatum to the Vancouver Canucks on where he’s willing to be traded to and waive his no-movement clause for ahead of next Friday’s deadline.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Tyler Myers will not play tonight against the Winnipeg Jets for roster management purposes.” the Canucks said prior to Wednesday’s game.
While a trade isn’t necessarily imminent, the Vancouver Canucks are trying to protect the asset to avoid an injury, and with teams beginning to call to inquire about the cost to acquire Tyler Myers, it looks like the defenseman has one team in mind that he’d be willing to waive his no-movement clause for.

With Tyler Myers recently turning 36 and only under contract for one more year beyond the 2025-26 season, there’s no doubt he wants to be traded to a contender as he looks to hoist the Stanley Cup over his head before his career comes to a close.
“There’s still lots of time, and I think he’s inclined to wait to see if perhaps some other teams step up and try to make a deal with the Canucks. The Stars, for example, are a team that are known to have some interest in him, and I believe he’d like to play there if that could work out.” Johnston said on Thursday.
Myers wanting to play for the Dallas Stars makes a ton of sense for both the player, who was born three-and-a-half hours south in Houston, Texas, and the team as General Manager Jim Nill would like to add some more depth to his group for what they hope will be a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Given that Myers isn’t a rental, the Vancouver Canucks might be able to get a bit more for him than those pending UFAs who are available, with a second round pick not out of the question, but it’ll all come down to who he’s waive his no-movement clause for.
