In a surprising twist Tyler Myers was absent from Vancouver Canucks practice today, however despite recent trade rumours, he is still on the team, the Canucks have only a couple weeks left to trade the veterans they want off the team.

“While a deal still hasn’t materialized, the expectation is that Myers will be moved ahead of the trade deadline, which is only one week away, and it looks like a number of teams have expressed interest in the Houston, Texas native from both conferences, as several contenders are looking to add some depth on the blue line.”-Jaxon

Tyler Myers remains on team despite not practicing.

Patrick Johnston of the Province reported the ongoing situation with Myers, with fans not knowing what is going to happen before the deadline. Myers has a no-movement clause but the chance at another Stanley Cup might be enough for him to waive it.

“The idea of a trade to Dallas may have appeal, for instance: his mom is from Texas and he lived in the state until he was about 10 years old, then moved to Calgary to live with his Canadian dad and play hockey. The Stars reportedly made a roster move on Friday, declaring that injured centre Tyler Seguin would not able to play again this season, including the playoffs, meaning they can get full cap relief for his salary.”-Johnston

Myers has never really had a legitimate shot at the Stanley Cup before, and at 37 years old he might just grab any chance he can get. And the Stars would be a great fit, as they have a ton of firepower but need some depth and physicality on defence. It would be one hell of a hockey story to see Myers win in his home state.
