Shane Wright was the fourth overall pick in the NHL Draft in 2022 by the Seattle Kraken. This season, he has scored 11 goals and has recorded 11 assists, in 57 games played. Wright has a plus/minus rating of 5.
This is his fourth NHL season. He will one more-year remaining on his contract until Wright will become a restricted free agent. It may appear as if Wright may not be in the long-term plans for the Kraken.

At just 22 years old, there is no doubt that he still has a lot of potential in the NHL still. For him to reach his full potential, there is a chance that he may have to do it elsewhere and not in Seattle. It is interesting that they want to trade him despite having a 27-21-9 record with 63 points. They are in the middle of a playoff race.
NHL Analyst Believes That the Seattle Kraken are Ready to Move Off of Shane Wright
Chris Johnston of the Athletic wrote about several different NHL trade candidates before the Friday, March 6 NHL trade deadline. He has Wright as one of the more surprising trade candidates. Johnston said, “Rival scouts started hearing Wright’s name in the rumor mill during World Juniors earlier this month. The 2022 No. 4 pick is still in a developmental phase but has seen his offensive production dip from last season’s 19-goal, 44-point campaign.

Wright profiles as an intriguing two-way center and will likely only be moved in a trade that sees a player with similar upside going back to Seattle. The Kraken like their organizational depth down the middle and are looking for a game-breaking winger.”
A few teams like the Dallas Stars, the Carolina Hurricanes, and the Pittsburgh Penguins could potentially take a swing at Wright in a possible trade. Those three teams have the prospects that Seattle might be looking for. It would feel shocking in general if they gave up on him so soon.
