The Carolina Hurricanes (38-15-6) and the Seattle Kraken (28-22-9) meet Monday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Hurricanes vs. Kraken and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Season series: Hurricanes lead 1-0
The Hurricanes edged the Kraken 3-2 Jan. 10 in Raleigh as a huge favorite (-300) as the Under (6) cashed. Seattle managed just 12 shots, as rookie G Brandon Bussi made 10 saves for the win. LW William Carrier had the game-winning goal at 13:50 of the third period to spoil a good game for Kraken G Joey Daccord, who made 33 saves in the loss.
Carolina has won 5 in a row, while picking up at least 1 point in 12 straight games. It is 10-0-2 in that 12-game span, and 14-1-3 across the previous 18 outings since Jan. 4. The Over is 3-1 in the past 4 games, and 5-2 across the past 7 contests.
Seattle scored a 5-1 win Saturday over the Vancouver Canucks as a moderate favorite (-170) as the total pushed (6) at most shops. The Kraken are just 2-3-0 in the past 5 games, and the total is 2-2-2 in the previous 6 outings.

Brandon Bussi (24-3-1, 2.22 GAA, .906 SV%, 2 SO) vs. Joey Daccord (17-13-5, 2.79 GAA, .903 SV%, 2 SO)
The rookie Bussi has won 8 consecutive starts, while allowing 1 or no goals in 4 of those outings. He was an impressive 4-0-0 with a 2.24 GAA and .893 SV% with 1 SO in 4 starts in February. He also backstopped that 3-2 win in January against the Kraken, posting 10 saves.
Daccord posted a win over the Canucks last time out Saturday, stopping 27 shots while allowing a single goal. He was 2-1-0 with a 2.33 GAA and .920 SV% in 3 February starts. He stopped 33 of 36 shots in the 3-2 road loss in Carolina Jan. 10.
Hurricanes at Kraken picks and predictionsPrediction
Hurricanes 3, Kraken 2
The HURRICANES (-190) are worth playing, even though this is a little expensive for my liking. My personal limit for a moneyline wager is -180, but if you fold this into a multi-leg parlay, or use a boost or promo, it’s perfect OK to roll with the Canes. They’re playing tremendous hockey lately.
The Kraken have won 4 in a row at home, but 3 of those wins have come against teams not currently in the playoff picture.
If you’re a bit on the conservative side, take the KRAKEN +1.5 (-155) as home underdogs. They’re not priced out of line, and, again, Seattle has won 4 in a row on home ice. However, facing a first-place Carolina team is much different than facing the dregs of the league.
UNDER 6 (-115) is the lean, but don’t get carried away.
The Over is 2-0-2 in the past 4 home games for the Kraken. However, Seattle managed just 12 total shots in the first matchup against Carolina, so take that into account.
For the Hurricanes, the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games. However, the Under is 4-1 in the past 5 outings on the road.
