Dallas Stars News and Notes:

The Dallas Stars are sitting comfortably in the Playoff spot, currently 14 points above the Utah Mammoth and the Seattle Kraken in the wild card spots. However, they only have a one-point lead on the Minnesota Wild, sitting right behind in the third seed. The Stars need to take advantage of easier games like tonight’s despite injuries to top players like Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, and Tyler Seguin, so that they can get home ice advantage in the first round of the NHL Playoffs.

Vancouver Canucks News and Notes:

The Vancouver Canucks have yet to gain their footing as the NHL starts back up after the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina. The Canucks started off with a tough 2-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets and followed that up with a 1-5 loss to the Seattle Kraken, and as you can see, they only scored three goals in the process. As the favourites for the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, you could see that as a good thing, but with a roster that is constantly shifting and likely to change even more before the NHL Trade Deadline passes, team chemistry and morale in the locker room are very important as well.

Players to Watch

Dallas Stars:

The Dallas Stars are one of the most well-rounded teams in the NHL on both the offensive and defensive sides. However, Offense specifically has been truly remarkable this season, with three players in the top 20 in points this season. Although one of them is out with an injury, Mikko Rantanen, Jason Robertson, and Wyatt Johnston will be that much harder to stop for the Canucks tonight.

Vancouver Canucks:

Coming out of the Winter Olympic Games, the Vancouver Canucks get one of their top midseason acquisitions back in Marco Rossi. Rossi, being the top piece, is coming back to Vancouver in the massive Quinn Hughes in mid-November. He hasn’t been able to get on the boxscore in the last two games, but if someone’s going to take hold of a depleted Stars roster, it could be Rossi.
