The Vancouver Canucks sent a scout to watch a pair of Eastern Conference clubs on Sunday evening as trade talks around the National Hockey League begin to heat up.
The National Hockey League’s trade deadline is just four days away and the Vancouver Canucks are continuing to evaluate all the options they could have this week when it comes to their pending UFAs and veterans that they’ve made available amid their rebuild.
With their rebuilding plans in full swing and the front office wanting to get younger, members of the Vancouver Canucks’ scouting staff have been racking up the Air Miles in recent months as they try to identify potential targets for Allvin & Co.

In a post on social media on Sunday, Stefen Rosner revealed that the Vancouver Canucks were among 11 clubs that sent their scouts to watch the New York Islanders take on the Florida Panthers.
Joining the Vancouver Canucks last night on Long Island were the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks and the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to Rosner.
“Scouts in attendance for #Isles vs. #TimeToHunt:
ANA
BUF
CBJ
DAL
LAK
NYR
NJD
OTT
SJ
TBL
VAN” Rosner said on X.
“The NHL Trade Deadline will be March 6, 2026, just a few days after the Olympics come to an end. With that in mind, tonight’s #BOSvsFLA game will be scouted by: LAK, MTL (2 scouts), CBJ (2 scouts), WPG (2 scouts), VAN, WSH, NYR, ANA, NJD” Shawn Hutcheon of The Fourth Period said on X in early February.
Given that the Canucks have scouted the Florida Panthers twice in the last 30 days, perhaps we could see a deal completed between the two sides before Friday at Noon PT, with players like Brock Boeser, Conor Garland and Jake DeBrusk potentially being of interest to GM Bill Zito.
