Bad news for the Philadelphia Flyers. Following two big wins, keeping the postseason hopes alive, Philadelphia will be without a key contributor, Travis Konecny, in a crucial matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday.
Per the Flyers, their leading scorer is now day-to-day with an upper-body injury and is out of the matchup vs. the Leafs.
Owen Tippett has taken his spot on the top line, with Nikita Grebenkin taking Tippett’s spot on the third line. In Konecny’s absence, Nicolas Deslauriers draws into the lineup.
The injury could not come at a worse time for the Flyers, as every game from here out has an “elimination game” feel. Monday’s game is no exception, as every game will have big implications on the postseason.
This season, Konecny has 23 goals and 57 points in 58 games played. He has been the heartbeat of this Flyers team. So, not having him in what feels like a must-win game is a very tough break for Philly.
