The highly-anticipated NHL trade deadline is fast approaching, as Friday, March 6 will be the last day for teams to made trades this season.
Ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, some major players were dealt (like Artemi Panarin and Ondrej Palat) before the two-week roster freeze to accommodate the tournament. In the span of time since the Olympics have concluded, it’s been pretty quiet on the trade front as the days tick down to March 6. There have been some small moves here and there, but overall it’s felt like the calm before the storm.
Or, with a handful of rules changes such as the institution of a salary cap for the playoffs, some NHL general managers might not be as willing to spend big ahead of the postseason. Whatever the reason may be, things will no doubt pick up as we march ever closer to Friday’s deadline.
