Carolina Hurricanes News and Notes:
Before a tough 1-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken, the Carolina Hurricanes were coming off five straight wins, albeit separated by the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina. The Hurricanes still sit solidly at the top of the Metropolitan Division, seven points up on the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Islanders. They look to get back in the winning column against a rebuilding roster that are soon to be sellers at the NHL Trade Deadline, in the Vancouver Canucks.
Vancouver Canucks News and Notes:
The Vancouver Canucks remain on the struggle bus as of late, after suffering a dominant 6-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Monday. The Canucks remain patiently waiting to become sellers at the deadline with several heavily coveted players on the chopping block, such as Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, Teddy Blueger, and Evander Kane. Until then, it’s important for the Canucks to build on team chemistry and begin to put the fate of the team in their young talent.

Players to Watch:
Carolina Hurricanes:
Nikolaj Ehlers has been a fantastic veteran depth piece for the Hurricanes both this season and as of late, with a point in four of his last five games. However, the Hurricanes have found a secret weapon in the crease with Brandon Bussi becoming one of the best goaltenders in the league. Bussi comes into tonight’s contest with a 2.23 GAA, a .906 SV%, and a staggering 24 wins in 28 appearances.
Vancouver Canucks:
In what is a brand new lineup combination for the Vancouver Canucks, they’re going to someone like Nils Hoglander, who is getting moved up to the top line in tonight’s game, alongside Elias Pettersson and Conor Garland. Liam Ohgren is also moving up to the second line, where he’s able to lock up with his fellow former Minnesota Wild, Marco Rossi. With just 14 shots on goal against the Stars on Monday, the Canucks must look to these lineup switches for production out of unlikely heroes.
