Cam Talbot, filling in while starter John Gibson nurses an upper-body injury, had a second straight strong performance, but needed more help from teammates when the Golden Knights pressed and pressed in the third period.
They pulled within a goal at 11:37 when Noah Hanifin fired a shot from up top that Rasmus Anderson redirected to Ivan Barbashev, who had an open shot from the right side of the net. Mitch Marner was right in front of the crease when he made it 3-3 with 3:23 to play. That was part of an 8-1 shot advantage Vegas had in the third period at that point.

The Golden Knights scored 1:50 into the game, when Albert Johansson lost a puck battle behind his net and Marner sent a feed out to Reilly Smith, who was open and free to tap in a shot from the left side. But their lead didn’t last long: Four minutes later, Simon Edvinsson swung the puck over to Seider on the right point, and Seider found Emmitt Finnie, who slid to the top of the right circle and fired a shot Adin Hill had little chance to see, with Marco Kasper being part of the net-front traffic. That was Finnie’s second goal in two games.
Edvinsson added a goal to his night 10 minutes later when he pounced on a loose puck in the slot and roofed it into the net for a 2-1 lead. Alex DeBrincat, who assisted on that goal, scored one of his own at 16:15 when he fired a shot from the left circle that went in off the far post.
Talbot made a highlight-reel save on Jack Eichel on a breakaway during the second period to protect the two-goal lead. Seider helped out during a scramble in front of the net, scooping up a loose puck in the paint while Talbot was tied up in traffic.
