DULUTH — Minnesota Duluth junior goaltender Eve Gascon,
the WCHA Goaltender of the Year,
is one of three finalists for the Hockey Commissioners Association Women’s Goalie of the Year for 2025-26.
It’s the second consecutive season Gascon has landed among the top three finalists for national goaltender of the year after getting passed over for the award a season ago despite being
the American Hockey Coaches Association’s first-team All-American goalie.
The HCA’s Goaltender of the Month for February, Gascon has a .941 save percentage that ranks sixth in the NCAA and 1.79 goals-against average that sits 11th in the country. The 10 shutouts by the native of Macouche, Quebec, are second in the nation and the second-most for a UMD goalie in a single season.
The record of 12 is held by Emma Soderberg from 2022-23, when she was one of three finalists for national goalie of the year. Soderberg and Gascon are the only two Bulldogs to be named finalists for the award, which began in 2020-21. Gascon is two shutouts shy of tying Soderberg’s school record of 23 career shutouts.

The other two finalists in 2025-26 are UConn fifth-year senior Tia Chan and Quinnipiac sophomore Felicia Frank. Chan ranks third in the NCAA in save percentage at .948 and her 1.59 GAA is sixth-best. Frank is tied with Gascon for sixth in the NCAA in save percentage at .941 while her 1.54 GAA ranks fourth.
Frank is right behind Gascon in third in shutouts with nine while Chan has five.
The winner will be announced during the 2026 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four at Penn State later this month.

Gascon’s awards haul this week also included All-WCHA first-team and WCHA Goaltending Champion. However, she was not among the top 10 for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. Only one goaltender, Chan, made the top 10. She was also the only member of Hockey East, with the WCHA claiming six sports. Four were Wisconsin Badgers.
Wisconsin’s Ava McNaughton won national goaltender of the year last season, beating out Gascon to become the first from the WCHA to win the award in five seasons.
Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
