The Philadelphia Flyers (28-22-11) are back in action following the NHL trade deadline as they head across the state to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins (31-17-13) in Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday.

Philadelphia goes to Pittsburgh following a 3-0 shutout loss on its home ice to the Utah Mammoth on Thursday. Before that, the Flyers had won three straight games. They’ve gone 3-2-0 over the past five games, and 4-4-2 over the last 10.

The Penguins have not had the same luck over the previous five games, going 2-2-1, including back-to-back losses to Boston and Buffalo. However, over the past 10 games, they have gone 5-3-2.

The Penguins have picked up at least a point in the previous three meetings between the two teams. After the Flyers won the first game of the series in the shootout, the Penguins have dominated the remainder of the series. The Flyers have been outscored 13-7 by the Penguins so far.

Game Notes

Lines might change a little between now and game time. After trading Bobby Brink and Nicolas Deslauriers on Friday, these are a rough estimate as to what the lines will be. For example, Denver Barkey took Brink’s spot on the line with Matvei Michkov and Noah Cates.

Travis Konecny was wearing a non-contact jersey on Friday and was not taking part in line rushes, so Owen Tippett remained in that top line spot. However, if Konecny can play, Tippett will likely go back to being on a line with Sean Couturier.

Speaking of the injury updates. Nick Seeler will not be available on Saturday, but Monday remains an option for his return. Konecny will be a game-time decision, but it feels like there is a better chance that he plays.

If Konecny is not able to play, the Flyers will likely have to make a call-up. Alex Bump will be a name to watch there. It’s worth noting that Bump, who has 6 points (4G, 2A) in his last 6 games, was NOT in the Phantoms lineup last night.

The Flyers claimed Luke Glendening off waivers on Friday. He’ll likely take over as the 4C, with Carl Grundstrom headed back to the wing. He should be making his Flyers debut on Saturday.
