The Philadelphia Flyers have officially called up one of their top prospects, Alex Bump.

Bump, 22, is a former 5th-round pick, selected by the Flyers 133rd overall in the 2022 NHL draft. The Prior Lake, Minnesota, native played two years of NCAA hockey at Western Michigan, scoring 37 goals and 83 total points in 80 career NCAA games. Bump donned the “A” for the Broncos in his sophomore season, where they won the National Championship.

Bump joined the Phantoms at the end of last season, scoring 3 goals and 5 total points in 10 games, including the playoffs.

This season, Bump was expected to put up a good fight in training camp for an NHL roster spot, and did. However, he ended up starting the year with the Phantoms. His first full season of professional hockey started with a slump.

Bump eventually found his groove and has been heating up lately. In his last six games with the Phantoms, Bump has 6 points, including 4 goals.

This season, he has 11 goals and 26 total points in 36 games.

Bump gets the call-up following Friday’s trade that sent Bobby Brink to the Minnesota Wild. It opened up a critical roster spot needed to give the top prospect the call.

He is expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.

Welcome to the NHL, Alex!
