HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Dozens of kids laced up their skates and hit the ice for the first time on Saturday, to see if they have what it takes to be a skating superstar!
The North Alabama Hockey Association hosted its annual “Try Hockey Day.”
These kids got a quick skating lesson before putting on the pads and grabbing the sticks.
Huntsville has long been the Hockey Capital of the South.
The recent double-gold medal performance for Team USA seems to have inspired a lot of people.
“We cannot keep spots open in our program enough. We run six days a week,”
“I currently am sold out in over half of my classes, especially our adult program is booming. It’s sold out in about a week and a half.”
A lot of the kids who came out to Try Hockey came with their coaches.
Maybe there are some future Olympians here!
