Samuel Montembeault’s outing in Anaheim left its mark. The Quebec native struggled on several shots, and it cost the team a valuable point in the standings.

Martin St-Louis will not mess around tonight in Los Angeles. The Montreal Canadiens’ head coach has confirmed that Jakub Dobes will get the start against the Kings.

Dobes is getting a golden opportunity to bounce back. His last start in San Jose was difficult, but he now has to prove that he can stabilize the situation immediately.

The Canadiens offense has been delivering with consistent scoring production. Unfortunately, the goaltenders have shown some weaknesses since the start of this West Coast trip.

This morning, the message in the locker room is clear. You cannot ask your scorers to produce five or six goals every night just to hope for a victory.

All the same players that played the Ducks are on the ice for warmup ahead of game against Kings. Dobes in net.

Canadiens lineup vs Kings:

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Newhook-Kapanen-Demidov
Bolduc-Evans-Dach
Anderson-Danault-Gallagher

Matheson-Guhle
Hutson-Dobson

A character test for Jakub Dobes

The Kings will test the young goaltender from the start of the game. Los Angeles relies on a tight defensive system that does not forgive any lapse in concentration or positioning.

The Los Angeles lineup holds a 3-6-1 record in its last 10 games.

Montreal, for its part, has a 33-18-10 record this season.

The defensive unit will also need to raise its level of play. The last two games have shown a group often overwhelmed by the opponent’s speed in the high-danger areas.

There are no easy goals in this league, especially at the end of a road trip. Dobes needs a bounce back and the pressure is very real on his shoulders.

If the tall goaltender does not shut the door early, it could be a long night for the fans. We want to see solid execution from him starting in the first period.
