The Beekmantown boys hockey team has clinched its berth in the state final four in Buffalo, New YorkThe Eagles defeated No. 2 Franklin Academy, 3-2, in the Regional Championship on Saturday night. In the first period, Beekmantown’s Mason Carter would miss a shot, but Jackson Deyo would find the puck and score for the Eagles, giving them a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Edward Sweenor delivered a strike to the back of the net to extend Beekmantown’s lead, 2-0. Franklin Academy would respond in the second period as Jonathon Scharf scored for the Huskies to cut the deficit to 2-1. Deyo would then get his second goal of the night as he shot it to the left of the goalie to put the Eagles up, 3-1. That marked Deyo’s third goal of the season. The Huskies would then score another goal with a little over a minute left in the third period. Beekmantown would hold on as they punched their ticket to Buffalo and defeated Franklin Academy, 3-2. “We weren’t supposed to win this game on paper, but we proved why we play these games. We play for the guy next to us and just go out there, do what we do, we win,” Deyo said. “We’re a team. We block shots, do the little things, and you win these big games.”

The Eagles defeated No. 2 ranked Franklin Academy, 3-2, in the Regional Championship on Saturday night, March 7.
In the first period, Beekmantown’s Mason Carter would shoot and miss but Jackson Deyo would find the puck and score for the Eagles, giving them a 1-0 lead.
