Colorado Hockey Now
One of the coolest days on the job in a long, long time. Friday was long, exhausting, and a roller coaster of emotions. But it was a blast.
The Avs pulled off the unthinkable after everybody thought the idea was dead. They traded for Nazem Kadri, and they got him right before the buzzer sounded on the 1 p.m. MT trade deadline.
Kadri went from thinking he wouldn’t be moved to suddenly being on a Zoom call with Avalanche media to discuss the trade within a few hours. Talk about an emotional shift.
On the ice, the Avs had a big game to play. They were facing the surging Dallas Stars, who had won 10 straight games, and were suddenly closing in on that top seed in the Central Division. But the Stars could not beat the resilient Avalanche.
With all the depth the Avalanche have, it was the top dogs and the resurgent power play that led the way.
