Maybe the Stars traded for depth at just the right time.

In Friday night’s highly-anticipated matchup between Dallas and Colorado, Stars forward Roope Hintz went down with what appeared to be a left leg injury in the second period and exited the game. Hintz was unable to skate off the ice under his own power.

Shortly after his exit the Stars announced that Hintz would miss the remainder of the game. Stars coach Glen Gulutzan did not have an update after the 5-4 shootout loss and said the team likely wouldn’t know more for a day or two.

Here’s the play where Roope Hintz was injured. He and Nathan MacKinnon got into it in the corner and he seemingly hyperextends his leg.

Hintz was in his first game back from injured reserve after he missed the past week due to an illness. Friday was his first game action since before the Olympic break when Hintz played for Team Finland.
