The Boston Bruins announced Monday that the team has signed Providence Bruins defenseman Frederic Brunet to a two-year contract extension with an annual NHL salary cap hit of $875,000. The deal contains a two-way contract for 2026-27, which turns into a one-way deal for the 2027-28 season.
Prospect Profile: Frederic Brunet
The 22-year-old Brunet was a fifth-round draft pick, 132nd overall, in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Brunet made his NHL debut on April 15, 2025, with the Bruins and has not played with the parent club this season. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound left-shot defenseman is the Providence d-man with 11 goals this season in 55 games. Brunet has also added 17 assists. In 173 career AHL games, Brunet has tallied 18 goals and 49 assists.
The Gatineau, Quebec native has climbed the Bruins prospect charts and should be a player to watch this offseason and into training camp. Currently, the Bruins have Hampus Lindholm, Nikita Zadorov, and Jonathan Aspirot on the left side of the defense. Mason Lohrei has been playing offside recently.
