After grabbing a 2-0 lead less than nine minutes in, the Chicago Blackhawks were off to precisely the start they were looking for in an effort to sweep the season series against the Dallas Stars.
The final 51 minutes and change, however, went much differently, as the Stars rebounded and held the Blackhawks to only 14 shots on goal after falling behind by a pair. Thanks to a late tally from Connor Bedard, the Hawks at least picked up one point in Dallas, but Miro Heiskanen netted the overtime winner just 22 seconds into the three-on-three period for a 4-3 victory.

Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Trade Rumors
Chicago Hockey Now: With a season sweep of the Dallas Stars in their sights, the Blackhawks raced out to a 2-0 lead, but couldn’t sustain their level of play throughout the game. Connor Bedard’s goal with 80 seconds remaining forced overtime, but the Stars still emerged victorious. To add insult to injury, Oliver Moore got tangled up with a defender and went crashing into the boards, which forced him to miss the final two-plus periods.
More CHN: It was an eventful few days leading up to the trade deadline for the Blackhawks, with veterans like Nick Foligno, Connor Murphy, and Jason Dickinson on the move. However, GM Kyle Davidson elected to keep Ilya Mikheyev, and he’s hopeful the two sides can work towards a contract extension this summer.
More CHN: ICYMI, the most notable trade by the Blackhawks on deadline day. Their captain, Nick Foligno, was traded to the Minnesota Wild, where he will join his younger brother, Marcus, in hopes of chasing down his first Stanley Cup Championship.
Before the Blackhawks faced the Stars on Sunday, Chicago Sports Network paid tribute to Troy Murray, featuring his career highlights and his legacy as a broadcaster with the organization.
Darren Pang and Tony Granato also joined the Hockey on TNT panel on Sunday for Hockey Day in America, and they both spoke about how much Murray meant to both of them. It was tough to watch Panger get so choked up, but he spoke beautifully, as he always does.
Also in Blackhawks news, prospect Jack Pridham scored his 42nd goal of the season, albeit in a 5-2 loss for the Kitchener Rangers to AJ Spellacy and the Windsor Spitfires on Sunday. Pridham is now only one goal behind fellow Chicago prospect Marek Vanacker for the OHL lead.
NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
The Athletic: While this year’s NHL trade deadline may have disappointed, Pierre LeBrun believes that could lead to an explosive summer filled with notable names on the move. Simon Nemec, Robert Thomas, Auston Matthews, and… Connor McDavid were among the players speculated upon.
New Jersey Hockey Now: Speaking of Nemec, there were reports that the San Jose Sharks had interest in the former No. 2 overall pick ahead of the deadline. The deal didn’t pan out, but Nemec’s future with the New Jersey Devils is still more uncertain than ever.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Here’s the latest injury news on Pittsburgh Penguins‘ captain Sidney Crosby. The Pens sure could use him back soon, as they were down another forward on Sunday against the Boston Bruins, while Evgeni Malkin is still serving his suspension.
NHL.com: What an incredible back-and-forth tilt filled with fisticuffs on Sunday in Buffalo. The Sabres hosted the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the two sides got into several skirmishes and combined for 15 goals. The Lightning clawed back from a 4-1 deficit to grab a 7-5 lead, but the Sabres rallied for the game’s final three goals en route to an electric 8-7 win. Somehow, Brandon Hagel wasn’t handed a suspension for trying to jump Rasmus Dahlin, throwing multiple punches to the back of his head.
Colorado Hockey Now: Nazem Kadri made his presence felt in his first game back with the Colorado Avalanche, picking up an assist in a 3-2 shootout win over the Colorado Avalanche in a battle between the top teams in the Central Division.
More Athletic: On the other side of the matchup, Nick Foligno made his debut with the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. Foligno, sporting a No. 71 sweater, skated on the fourth line with Nico Sturm and Michael McCarron. He did not record a point in nine minutes of ice time, but did chip in for one shot on goal and one hit. The Foligno brothers couldn’t be more excited to be teammates for the first time.
Florida Hockey Now: Brad Marchand attended the Florida Panthers team photo day on Monday, but it could be the final time he dons the sweater this season. George Richards discusses the Panthers potentially shutting down Marchand for the rest of the 2025-26 season.
