Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel received a $5,000 fine on Monday for being the aggressor in an altercation with Buffalo Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin on Sunday.

Hagel received a double-minor early in the second period of Sunday’s 8-7 loss to the Sabres for going after Dahlin, who was not penalized, in front of Buffalo’s net. Hagel threw his stick down and delivered multiple punches with his gloves on as Dahlin attempted to skate up ice.

The double-minor was part of a total of 11 penalty minutes Hagel received Sunday. The 27-year-old winger posted a goal and an assist in 16:42 of ice time.

Tampa Bay’s Brandon Hagel has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for serving as the aggressor in an altercation with Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin.
