Stars

The Dallas Stars seem insistent on rewriting their franchise record book this season. Jake Oettinger set the franchise mark for franchise wins with eight straight wins yoo. Wyatt Johnston broke Mike Modano’s record for power play goals with a month left in the season. Shoutouts to those two guys.

For Dallas as a team, this wasn’t just a winning streak. It was the first time in Dallas history the Stars would have a streak that reached double digits. After so many years at having a franchise record being stuck at seven or eight games, this Stars team was able to stretch it out further than ever before.

Giving St. Louis the blues

From January 23rd to February 4th, the Stars took a maximum of six out of six possible against the Blues. That first of three victories in a span of a week and a half broke a skid where the Stars only won two of ten games up until that point in January. Igniting what would go onto be a franchise record winning streak against arguably their biggest rival in St. Louis.

None of these games were close though. All three wins were the Stars scoring a game winning goal that ranged from 67 to 23 seconds left in regulation. Denying their spring golf bound rivals even a single point in those three contests.

Road warriors

The Stars are one of the best teams on the road this season. On their ten game winning streak, half of those games were won on the road. Winning in regulation, shootout, no matter the game the Stars rack up a lot of points away from home (they win a lot at the AAC too).

Over in western Canada, the Stars set their franchise record winning streak to nine games. One night later, they turned it into 10 games. Dallas broke their old record winning stream, and extended it by an identical 6-1 score in two nights each at the Vancouver Canucks, and the Calgary Flames.

The point streak went past 10

While the Stars may have had their 10 game winning streak snapped by the Colorado Avalanche on Friday March 6th, their point streak stayed intact. Picking up one point in a shootout loss.

That point stream sits at 12 right now. Thanks to Mavrik Bourque for carrying the team on his back scoring wise. And Miro Heiskanen for giving Dallas their sole win over the stubborn Chicago Blackhawks last night on Sunday March 8th. Keeping Dallas ahead of the Minnesota Wild for the race to decide who gets home ice in the inevitable upcoming first round matchup.
