With 18 games left in the regular season, will the Minnesota Wild be able to capture home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs? They are seemingly on a collision course to play Dallas to open the postseason.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Dallas is three points up on the Wild and has played one less game. Colorado is running away with the Central Division.

Our Darren ‘Doogie’ Wolfson caught up with NHL Network analyst and former Tampa GM Brian Lawton for a national perspective on the Wild.

Lawton has also been an agent and was a player for the Minnesota North Stars.

Minnesota has gone 37-16-11 overall with a 10-6-3 record in Central Division games. The Wild rank ninth in the league with 211 total goals (averaging 3.3 per game).

 Matthew Boldy has 35 goals and 37 assists for the Wild. Kirill Kaprizov has eight goals and four assists over the last 10 games.
