Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also played a major role by scoring twice earlier in the game. He later praised the team’s composure against a dangerous Colorado offense.

“I think just our composure in general,” Nugent-Hopkins said, when asked about what he liked about the game. “You know, these guys are a high-flying team. They found one early, but I didn’t think we changed our game.

“I thought we came into the mindset of playing everything tight. Not giving the easy ones for them and even after going down one, we did a pretty good job of just sticking to that, and it started to pay off for us.”

The win also ended Colorado’s five-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Edmonton improved to 32-25-8 and holds second place in the Pacific Division.
