NHL Predictions
Edmonton Oilers vs St Louis Blues
Head-to-Head: Capitals 1-1 Flyers
How to Watch: US TV: Hulu; ESPN+. Canada TV: Sportsnet.

Time: 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

It’s another quiet night on the ice and we have one game in this round of NHL predictions. The Edmonton Oilers continue their Midwest swing with a game against the St Louis Blues on Friday night. Both teams played on Thursday night.

However, the two teams had different nights on Thursday evening. Edmonton struggled in a 7-2 loss to the Dallas Stars in a rematch of the last two Western Conference Finals. Frustrations boiled over for the Oilers in that game.

St Louis seems likely to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, the Blues did score a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. We saw the Blues do a bit of selling at the deadline, but nothing as major as some speculated.

Let’s take a look at the statistics and storylines in this round of NHL predictions.

The Oilers Story

Edmonton had a night to forget against Dallas in the third and final encounter between the two teams. Goaltending and defence have been a struggle this campaign, and both areas will have to improve if the Oilers want to make a third consecutive Stanley Cup Final.

Connor Ingram is the projected starter for Edmonton but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Ingram is 9-6-1 with a 2.47 goals-against-average but has an .894 save percentage this season.

Connor McDavid, who has 110 points so far this season, actually dropped the gloves in the loss to Dallas. Leon Draisaitl is also just five points away from reaching the 100-point mark.

The Blues Story

St Louis is six points off the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, which is currently held by the San Jose Sharks. However, the Blues are 6-3-1 in their last games, including wins in five of their last six games.

Joel Hofer is slated to get the start after Jordan Binnington got the call against Carolina. Hofer is 16-11-4 with a 2.54 GAA and .905 save percentage to go with five shutouts.

Robert Thomas didn’t end up getting moved at the trade deadline. However, Thomas is first in assists (28) and points (43) and is one of four Blues’ players with 15 goals.

Prediction

The Oilers will be looking to put Thursday’s embarrassing loss behind them. However, they will have to deal with a surging Blues squad.

Despite this, Edmonton should recover and get the win. The Oilers need to win to avoid getting sucked into the Wild Card race.

Prediction: Oilers win 4-3.

Best Bets

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for the Oilers versus the Blues is 6.5, and we like the over in this game.

As far as individual props, take Evan Bouchard to get a power-play point for Edmonton. On the St Louis side of things, go with Pavel Buchnevich to score.
