Florida Panthers prospect and defenseman Mike Benning has been called up from the team’s AHL affiliate team, the Charlotte Checkers and is confirmed to make his NHL debut tonight (Thursday) against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 24-year-old has skated in all 56 games for Charlotte this season, scoring 31 points (8G, 23A). The St. Albert, Alberta, native’s 23 assists are the highest on the Checkers.
The 2020 Draft fourth-round pick for the Panthers is in his third pro season and has appeared in 182 AHL games, all with Charlotte, recording 89 points (26G, 63A).
