Markus Granlund just finished the season on top of the National League scoring race, a strong reminder of how productive the former Vancouver Canucks forward remains overseas.

The Finnish forward wrapped up the 2025-26 regular season as the most productive player in Switzerland’s top league with Genève-Servette HC.

Granlund recorded 54 points in 49 games, locking down first place after a late offensive push.

A four-point night late in the schedule helped him secure the lead in the scoring race.

HC Davos forward Matej Stransky finished right behind him with 53 points, making the race one of the tightest at the top of the league table.

For Canucks fans, the run is another example of a familiar story – a depth forward rediscovering top-line offensive freedom in Europe.

Granlund finds offensive rhythm overseas

Granlund last played for Vancouver in 2019 before his career shifted toward international leagues.

Since leaving the NHL, the forward has moved through several leagues, including the KHL and now Switzerland’s National League.

In Genève, Granlund handled major offensive minutes and became one of the focal points of the attack.

The league itself has turned into a gathering spot for former Canucks players.

Granlund shared the Genève-Servette locker room this season with former Vancouver winger Jimmy Vesey.

Several other familiar names remain active in the NL as well, including Erik Brännström, Yannick Weber and Nicklas Jensen.

The Canucks also have a prospect currently skating in the league. Lausanne HC features Basile Sansonnens, selected in the seventh round of the 2024 NHL Draft.

Granlund’s scoring title won’t change Vancouver’s current roster plans, but it shows how quickly a former NHL depth forward can turn into a top offensive driver in Europe.
