An incredible flying goal by William Eklund wasn’t the only history witnessed on Thursday night in Boston.

The Sharks continue to rely on their youth as they fight for an NHL playoff spot, and so far, they’ve kept this team afloat.

Setting a team record for most points from players 23 years of age or younger in a season with 19 games to go is remarkable. Macklin Celebrini has 91 points alone, and the other young role players are following suit.

William Eklund, 23, has 40 points of his own so far this season. Eklund has been a key piece of the rebuild over the past few seasons, and he had a remarkable goal against the Bruins.

Eklund, Will Smith, and Celebrini lead the charge in what looks to be a promising young core for the Sharks. With the season soon coming to a close, San Jose currently sits on the cusp of a wild-card spot.

The Utah Mammoth and the Los Angeles Kings currently stand in the Sharks’ way, but with 68 points, the young franchise is looking to arrive to the postseason earlier than many thought.

Celebrini has already shown signs of being a future superstar, and with a young core beside him, the sky is the limit for this group.

Breaking records this organization hasn’t touched in 30 years is a testament to the momentum building for the Sharks.
