Columbus Blue Jackets News & Notes:
The Blue Jackets lost in overtime 2-1 to the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. In the previous five games, they have a 2-0-3 record, scoring 3.6 goals per game while conceding 3.2. The Blue Jackets beat the Flyers 5-3 on January 28th in their first meeting this season. The Blue Jackets sit one point behind the Boston Bruins for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot entering play Saturday and are only two points behind the New York Islanders for the third seed in the Metropolitan Division with a game in hand.
Philadelphia Flyers News & Notes:
The Flyers beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 in a shootout on Thursday night. In their last five games, the Flyers have a 3-2-0 record, scoring 2.6 goals per game while allowing three. The Flyers need to get hot to leapfrog the Ottawa Senators and Blue Jackets/Bruins for that final Wild Card spot, as they currently sit tied in points with the Senators, with Ottawa having a game in hand and four points behind the Blue Jackets. Today’s game would certainly close the gap in the Wild Card chase.
