AMHERST, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – For the second year in a row, the UMass Minutemen Hockey team will advance to the Hockey East semifinals at TD Garden in Boston.
UMass faced off against the Northeastern Huskies on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Mullins Center in Amherst.
The Minutemen found the lead and held it throughout the entire game, with the opening goal coming from the Detroit Red Wings draft pick sophomore Larry Keenan early in the first period. However, the game would be tied at the end of the first period by a goal scored by Northeastern’s freshman Jack Galanek.
The game remained level until the very end of the second period, with the tie breaking goal scored by junior year student Jack Musa. However, the Minutemen were not finished scoring on the Northeastern Huskies, finishing the game 4 to 1. UMass goaltender Michael Hrabal finished the game making 30 saves and allowing only one goal.
The Minutemen await for the announcement of their semifinal opponent at the end of the weekend.
