Turn on the game!
Three must-see events this week:
NCAA Women’s Selection Show (6 p.m. Sunday, ESPN) — The state of Colorado will be shut out of the men’s bracket, but the CSU women clinched a berth, and CU should earn an at-large bid.
Philadelphia 76ers at Nuggets (8 p.m. Tuesday, Altitude/ESPN) — After a tough stretch, the schedule opens up for the Nuggets. And in not-so-shocking news, Joel Embiid probably won’t play for the Sixers.
Dallas Stars at Avalanche (7:30 p.m. Wednesday, TNT) — Another matchup of the two best teams in the NHL as the Avs try to firm their grip on the Central Division.
Numbers game
2 — times Embiid has played in Denver during his career. The last time he did so was Nov. 8, 2019, when Nikola Jokic hit a game-winner.
Box office
$109 — to see the Pittsburgh Penguins’ only visit to Ball Arena to take on the Avalanche. Tickets available at StubHub.
On this day
March 15, 2022 — Avs goalie Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for his second straight shutout, leading the Avalanche to a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.
Final word
The Stanley Cup playoffs format continues to be a mess for the Avs. Colorado shouldn’t have to play Dallas until the conference finals, but there is a good chance the teams meet in the second round. The NHL doesn’t seem to want its best teams playing in later rounds.
