OTTAWA — Drake Batherson scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and the Ottawa Senators beat the San Jose Sharks 7-4 at the Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday.

Batherson scored the winning goal at 13:08 of the third period. Senators Artem Zub took a slap shot from the right point that hit off Batherson at the left post and into the back of the net.

Fabian Zetterlund, Warren Foegele, Dylan Cozens, and Tyler Kleven all scored for the Senators, who have won five of six. Linus Ullmark started on back-to-back nights, making 19 saves. Brady Tkachuk had a goal and an assist in the contest as well.

Mario Ferraro and Tyler Toffoli each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who lost after winning two straight. Collin Graf scored for the third game in a row, and Michael Misa also scored for Team Teal. Laurent Brossoit made his San Jose Sharks debut and first NHL start since April 2024. He made 17 saves. Macklin Celebrini had an assist to extend his point streak to nine games.

Alexander Wennberg missed Sunday’s game due to an upper-body injury. Philipp Kurashev would play in his place. Pavol Regenda also played in place of the injured Igor Chernyshov.

Shakir Mukhamadullin continued his strong play with two assists.

Ferraro gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead at 4:05 of the first period. After a rush towards the net, the puck went to Shakir Mukhamadullin at the point, and he found Ferraro in the high slot for the one-timer through Ullmark’s five-hole.

Batherson tied the game at one with a power-play goal at 7:31. Batherson was trying to find a teammate on the back door, and Ferraro blocked the pass, right into his own net.

Toffoli put the Sharks back up 2-1 at 14:43. Ferraro took a one-timer from the point, which Toffoli tipped over Ullmark’s glove and under the bar.

Foegele tied the game at two at 4:31 of the second period. Foegele raced down the right boards and fired a bad-angle shot that somehow got through Brossoit.

Graf gave the Sharks a 3-2 lead at 10:46. Celebrini won a battle in the corner, then threw a spinning pass to Graf in front, who had two whacks at it to get it past Ullmark’s left pad.

Former San Jose Sharks forward Zetterlund tied the game 3-3 with a power play goal at 13:40. Jordan Spence gave Zetterlund a backhand pass at the center point, and his one-timer beat Brossoit by the glove.

What a shot. What a celly. Fabian Zetterlund gets his first in 14 at the best time.

Nothing like a revenge game for Zetts against his former team to get the goal scoring going again 👀.

Kleven gave the Senators their first lead, 4-3, 1:05 later. After a failed breakout, Kleven took a pass from the left wing from Zetterlund, and his wrist shot beat Brossoit by the blocker.

Misa tied the game 4-4 at 3:28 of the third period. Tyler Toffoli found Misa driving the center of the ice, and his snap shot beat Ullmark on the glove side.

Cozens added to the Senators’ lead, making it 6-4 with 5:10 left in the third period. Cozens got a pass in the slot and wired a shot over the glove of Brossoit.

Dylan Cozens absolutely RIPS it for his sixth goal in his last eight. The workhorse from Whitehorse ALWAYS comes clutch in the big games. This was a much needed insurance goal.

Brady Tkachuk with the assist has nine points in his last 10 games! 🤌
