With a .930 SV% in his last five starts, goaltender Mikhail Yegorov finished his season on a high note.

With a quarterfinals lost to UConn, BU’s season has come to an end. Leading from the backend, Mikhail Yegorov was strong down the stretch, finishing the season with a respectable 16-15-2 record, 2.73 GAA and .904 SV% for an uncharacteristically weak Terriers team. It was a far cry from Yegorov’s dominant half-a-season last year when he rocked a 11-6-1 record, 2.15 GAA and .927% all the way to the finals. Still, despite a few struggles early on, BU’s disastrous season was never the fault of their netminder.

So, what’s next for Yegorov? The Devils could sign him soon, even letting him earn a start or two with either the Comets or Thunder before their seasons end. Otherwise, Yegorov will return to the net for the Terriers for his third season next year.

There are plenty of decisions to be made for the Devils goaltending depth. Tyler Brennan, Nico Daws, and Jakub Malek are all RFA’s at season’s end. Brennan, though vastly improved this season, has not earned even a single game for the Comets in his three years for the organization, and likely will be allowed to seek a suitor for his services elsewhere. Daws is a tricky case, and could be a candidate to be moved in a trade. Malek should absolutely be signed to an extension. Could that leave Malek and Yegorov as the tandem in Utica next season? Even if Daws is re-signed, it would not be a bad idea to let a 20-year-old Yegorov earn his reps in Adirondack for a season before moving up.
