This is the kind of news making waves around the Canadiens today. Our 5th overall pick in 2023, David Reinbacher, has made a major career decision.
The tall Austrian defenseman is now represented by Sean Coffey of the Quartexx agency.
Safe to say, that name probably rings a bell.
Coffey already represents Lane Hutson and goaltender Jacob Fowler.
It’s fair to say Quartexx is starting to gain a strong grip on the future of the Montreal Canadiens’ defense and goaltending.
David Reinbacher wants to give himself every possible advantage.
The 19-year-old has played 48 games in the AHL with the Laval Rocket this season. He has 5 goal and 17 assists for a total of 22 points before making the jump here.
The pressure is significant on the young defenseman. He is expected to deliver quick breakouts and consistent efficiency to stabilize the right side of the defense.
With Lane Hutson already accelerating his development, having both players represented by the same agent simplifies many discussions for Kent Hughes.
The general manager is also very familiar with Quartexx, having worked there for a long time.
A natural connection with the future core
“David Reinbacher now repped by Sean Coffey at Quartexx.
Also reps Lane Hutson and Jacob Fowler.”
– Marco D’Amico
This announcement confirms that the core of the rebuild is tightly connected.
Having top prospects under the same agency often facilitates communication during entry-level contract negotiations.
His size and hockey IQ are assets the team desperately needs.
