With the 71st overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the Buffalo Sabres selected forward Brodie Ziemer. This was after the 5-foot-11 forward had eight goals and 24 points in 27 games with the U.S. National Development Team in 2023-24.

Ziemer played his freshman year with the University of Minnesota this past campaign. In 38 games with the school during the 2024-25 season, he had 12 goals, 23 points, and a plus-6 rating. Overall, the skilled forward showed good promise in his first season with Minnesota.

Yet, Ziemer undoubtedly took another major step in the right direction this season with Minnesota, and Sabres fans should be excited about him because of it.

In 36 games this season with Minnesota, Ziemer had 23 goals, 13 assists, and 36 points. He also had seven goals and 12 points in his last 10 games, so there is no question that he has impressed in a big way this season.

With the Sabres being an exciting team on the rise, having a prospect like Ziemer in their system is not a bad thing in the slightest. It will be interesting to see how he continues to develop his game from here, but it is clear that he has good upside.
