Boston suffered an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Monday and once again lost in overtime. Although the Bruins lost both games, Boston was able to get two points, which is huge for the standings, said head coach Marco Sturm.
“Guys worked extremely hard for 60 minutes,” Sturm said on Tuesday, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage. “Coming in here on a back-to-back, in Montreal, to have a game like this – and they’re waiting for us, too – give my guys a lot of credit. They worked.”
Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman, meanwhile, praised the team’s effort in forcing overtime and getting another point on the second half of a back-to-back.
“Really proud of the group and just the resilience. Knowing the importance of the game, the way that we played a full 60 – I think that was impressive and important this time of the year,” Swayman said.

Although the Bruins didn’t gain any ground on the Canadiens, Boston getting a point further separates them from the Ottawa Senators, who are chasing them.
With the overtime loss, Boston fell to 37-23-8 and is now in the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Bruins will return to the ice on Thursday at home against the Winnipeg Jets.
