The 38-year-old centre hasn’t played in an NHL game since Feb. 5 after suffering a lower-body injury in the quarter-final game against Czechia at last month’s Winter Olympics, an injury that forced him to miss Canada’s gold-medal loss to the United States.
Crosby is having another strong season in Pittsburgh, scoring 27 goals and 32 assists over 56 games before Milano Cortina 2026.
After missing the playoffs for the third straight season in 2024-25, the Penguins have turned things around this year, sitting second in the Metropolitan Division with a 34-18-15 record with 15 games remaining.
The native of Cole Harbour, N.S., is in his 21st season with the Penguins and is in the first year of a two-year, $17.4 million contract.
