The Chicago Blackhawks (25-30-11) return home to the United Center and face off with the Minnesota Wild (38-18-12) on Tuesday in the first of two games in a quick home-and-home series. The two teams will meet again on Thursday in Minnesota for the fourth and final matchup of the 2025-26 regular season.

The Wild have won each of the first two meetings this year, defeating the Blackhawks 4-3 in overtime on Nov. 26 and 4-3 in a shootout on Jan. 27. Adding insult to injury, Chicago blew third-period leads in both games and has still only defeated Minnesota once over the last six years. In the last tilt, the Wild stormed back from down 3-0 with goals from Yakov Trenin, Joel Eriksson-Ek, and Jared Spurgeon. Kirill Kaprizov, who scored the OT winner in the first matchup, netted the lone tally in the shootout to complete the comeback. Teuvo Teravainen, Ryan Donato, and Ilya Mikheyev scored for the Blackhawks.

Last time out, the Blackhawks had their two-game win streak and three-game point streak snapped, getting shut out 4-0 on the road by the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. It was the fifth time this season the Blackhawks have been held without a goal. Vegas rattled off three goals in the opening 12 minutes of the game and never looked back.

Minnesota is coming off a 4-2 loss at home to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday and has dropped four of its last five games. Vladimir Tarasenko was responsible for both goals in the loss to Toronto. Regardless of the recent skid, Minnesota still sits comfortably in third place in the Central Division with 88 points through 68 games. Sitting six points back of the second-place Dallas Stars and 12 points ahead of the fourth-place Utah Mammoth, third is very likely where they finish the regular season.

Tuesday marks the first time that former Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno returns to the United Center since getting traded to the Wild on Mar. 6, just 11 days ago. Foligno was named the 36th captain in franchise history ahead of the 2024-25 season and appeared in 189 games with Chicago, tallying 35 goals and 43 assists for 83 points. In his first five games with Minnesota, the 38-year-old has recorded one assist and dished out 13 hits while averaging 11:03 of average time on ice.

Here’s everything else to note before the puck drops at 6:30 p.m. CT in Chicago.
