Another one of GM Kyle Davidson’s high-end first-round draft picks is NHL-bound, as Sacha Boisvert, the 18th overall selection in 2024, signed his entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday morning.
Boisvert, who’s celebrating his 20th Birthday today, had a disappointing final year of college hockey with Boston University, with multiple setbacks throughout his sophomore season. Still, his size and skill combo is very intriguing for a Blackhawks’ forward group that doesn’t possess much of that.
More in the links for where Boisvert fits into the Blackhawks NHL roster, and when he could make his debut.
Also in Blackhawks news, another top prospect continues to light up the stat sheet in Russia as the KHL regular season nears its end. Plus, one more former first-round pick was honored by the Hockey East Conference.
Around the league, Patrick Kane surpassed another U.S. legend, Evgeni Malkin doesn’t seem too worried about his contract situation, and the host cities for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey.

Chicago Blackhawks Recap, News & Trade Rumors
Chicago Hockey Now: Despite his on-ice struggles as a sophomore and a recent off-ice incident, Sacha Boisvert’s college career has come to an end. The 2024 first-round pick signed his entry-level contract and will join the Chicago Blackhawks for the final stretch of 2025-26. So, where does Boisvert fit in, and when will he make his NHL debut?
The Athletic: Just a few hours after signing, Scott Powers spoke with Boisvert, who talked about his decision to go pro and why he was healthy scratched for BU’s opening game of the Hockey East Conference Tournament last week.
Speaking of the Hockey East, Blackhawks 2025 first-round pick (No. 25 overall) Vaclav Nestrasil was named the Conference’s Rookie of the Week after tallying one goal and two assists in UMass’ 4-1 win over Northeastern on Saturday. Nestrasil and the Minutemen play next on Friday against Merrimack in the Semifinals.
In KHL news, forward prospect Roman Kantserov scored his league-leading 35th and 36th goals of the season on Monday. Kantserov, who won’t turn 22 until September, is now tied for the seventh-most goals in a single season in KHL history. His team, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, has the most points in the KHL with only two games left in the 2025-26 regular season.
ROMAN DOUBLE DIPS & GETS HIS 36TH OF THE SEASON🔥
From my research, I believe Kantserov is now tied for the 7th-most goals in a single season in KHL history. Still only 21 years old.#Blackhawkspic.twitter.com/gxtiaLnkbM

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
The Athletic: Former Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno spoke about hosting several young players, such as Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore, and Wyatt Kaiser, at “Camp Foligno” this summer. Foligno returns to the United Center for the first time as a member of the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
NHL.com: The host cities are set for the 2028 World Cup of Hockey, and somehow, there won’t be any games played in the United States after the country just swept up three Gold Medals at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Instead, Calgary, Edmonton, and Prague will host the next best-on-best event.
Detroit Hockey Now: This will sound plenty familiar to Blackhawks fans. Alex DeBrincat set up Patrick Kane for a pair of goals on Monday, leading to a little more history for “Showtime”. Kane (504) officially surpassed Joe Mullen (502) for the fourth-most goals by an American-born player. The Detroit Red Wings took down the Calgary Flames 5-2.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Following a dominant 7-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, franchise icon Evgeni Malkin sounded optimistic regarding his contract situation, as he’s set to be an unrestricted free agent at the season’s end. However, Malkin knows that he and GM Kyle Dubas will have a chat about an extension in the summer.
Forever Blueshirts: Longtime New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin was emotional in his first trip back to Madison Square Garden since getting dealt to the Los Angeles Kings ahead of the Olympics. “Breadman” tallied an assist to help the Kings earn a 4-1 road win.
NHLtraderumors.me: While the Dallas Stars just rattled off a 15-game point streak, they did most of that damage without star forward Mikko Rantanen. Well, Dallas will have to keep pushing forward without Rantanen for at least two more weeks, as he’s still not ready to return from the injury he suffered while representing Finland in Milan.
