HELENA, Mont. — The Helena Bighorns hockey club looks to win their fifth straight NA3HL Frontier Division Championship this week to punch their ticket to the Fraser Cup Championship Tournament which is essentially the league’s version of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Bighorns were the last team standing at the 2024 tournament when they took home the Fraser Cup Championship trophy.

But before the Bighorns start planning their trip to St Peters Missouri where the Fraser Cup tourney is played Helena will need to get by the Sheridan Hawks who enter the matchup in first place in the Frontier division standings

Game one of the three game set was Wednesday night in Helena and the Bighorns came up just short in an overtime thriller that saw the Hawks pull out the 5-4 victory.

The Bighorns will have their shot at redemption Friday night as the teams heads to Sheridan Wyoming for game two of the series and if they can pick up the road win Friday the Bighorns will force a win or go home game three that will be set to take place Saturday night in Sheridan. Puck drop for both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 7:30pm.

For what it’s worth the Bighorns came back from a 1-0 deficit in their first round playoff matchup with the Great Falls Americans before storming back to take games 2 and 3 to win the series and keep their season alive.

So although you never want to be trailing in a playoff series this isn’t unfamiliar territory to the Bighorns so we’ll see if they can put together a bounce back performance in game two and win another playoff series in comeback fashion.
