The Columbus Blue Jackets look to extend their four-game winning streak when they travel to take on the New York Islanders in this season series finale on Sunday night. The Islanders lead this Metropolitan rivalry 2-1, and New York will look to catch up to Columbus in the division standings. The Islanders are just two points behind the Blue Jackets with 83 points. But New York is trying to avoid losing three games in a row tonight. The Islanders went up in the season series on Feb. 28, winning Game 3, 4-3, in overtime. Simon Holmstrom scored 1:50 into the extra period for the Islanders’ fourth straight win. Things didn’t start well for New York at all, with Columbus going up 2-0. But New York scored three straight goals. Adam Fantilli scored with 1:02 left in the second to tie the game for the Blue Jackets. Neither team scored in the third, sending it to overtime.

New York is playing on back-to-back nights come Sunday after losing a lopsided 7-3 game on the road to the Montreal Canadiens. Cole Caufield was in complete control for Montreal, scoring a hat trick and notching five points with two assists to help the Canadiens dominate. Montreal outshot New York 36-22, with Juraj Slafkovsky earning the second star behind Caufield with four points, two goals and two assists. Holmstrom actually gave New York the lead in the middle of the first period and Matthew Schaefer scored on the power play 45 seconds into the third to tie the game. But Montreal would go on to score four straight goals to run away with the game.

Columbus is also playing on back-to-back nights, but it is coming off a big 5-2 home win against the Seattle Kraken. Columbus held Seattle to just 17 shots. Columbus got off to a quick start by scoring the first three goals of the game, all in the first period. Seattle scored two to get within one, but Kent Johnson stopped the bleeding with a second period goal. The Blue Jackets never looked back to sweep the season series in the process.
