The Los Angeles Kings go for the season series victory against the Utah Mammoth on Sunday.
The Utah Mammoth look to end a four-game home streak when they host the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night. Both Los Angeles and Utah sit in the middle of their respective divisions, with the Kings leading this season series 1-0. They will play this series finale in less than a week on March 28 in LA. The Kings won Game 1 in Salt Lake City, 4-2, on Dec. 8. Joel Armia scored twice and Adrian Kempe put up a goal and an assist to help the Kings prevail. Clayton Keller also scored a goal and added an assist for Utah, getting the Mammoth within one late in the third, but the team couldn’t muster any more offense. The Kings are trying to avoid losing three in a row tonight and four of their last five. The Mammoth missed out on winning three in a row after losing to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Both teams are coming off 4-1 losses. The Kings dropped by that score to the Atlantic Division-leading Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Buffalo won its fourth straight with Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen making 26 saves after the Kings scored the first goal of the game by Artemi Panarin on the power play. The Sabres went on to score four straight, including three in the third, to run away with the game and sweep LA in the season series.
The Mammoth are coming off a 4-1 loss to another Southern Californian team, the Ducks, on Friday. Alex Killorn broke a tie in the second with a goal midway through the period and he’d go on to add two assists. Lukas Dostal was tough in net, earning the first star of the game with 29 saves. Like the Kings, Utah was the first to score a goal in the game from Dylan Guenther. That came just 1:48 seconds into the first period, but Utah’s offense stalled for the rest of the game. Expect a much closer game tonight against LA.
