► FOLLOW ALONG

• GOAL. Chinakhov.

• End second period. Just stay healthy the rest of the way.

• Somewhere along his path, Hall went for a legit worthy MVP in Newark to an absolute embarrassment who literally dives for a living. Nice to see it finally called, but next time add the term ‘DIVING’ to the ‘unsportsmanlike conduct.’ Call it out.

• GOAL. Jarvis. Hurricanes, 4-0

• Hall’s first dive draws LOUD boos from the knowledgeable crowd. He takes his spill and DOES get called, but they won’t add the word ‘DIVING.’ They just call it unsportsmanlike conduct, even though that’s what it’s for. Good for Mantha for going in there.

• Man, this is dull.

• Some action on the power play. Near-misses. Best chance is short-handed two-on-one for the other guys, stopped by Skinner.

• Reilly off for tripping Brazeau. Bad call, but even-up time.

• GOAL. Chatfield with yet another long-ranger. Man, those are getting tiresome to see, regardless of the goaltender, regardless of the traffic. Find the puck. Assist: Robinson. Time: 9:15, second period. Hurricanes, 3-0

• GOAL. Ehlers one-time blast from the left point on the power play. Acciari went to one knee to block it, but it instead went right through him to serve as a screen. Assists: Jarvis, Nikishin. Time: 6:24, second period. Hurricanes, 2-0

• Svechnikov feels Girard’s stick on his back and goes down. Power play.

• Not sure what’s up with Geno today. All pouty-like. Haven’t seen this version of him in a while.

• Second period’s underway.

• Awful ending to the period from the Geno line, and from Geno in particular. A few boos on the way off. They’ve GOT to stop with the giveaways right inside the Pittsburgh line. This is how the game in Raleigh went for two periods. No need for it.

• Excellent shift for the first line, but also a terrible one for their Carolina counterparts, who didn’t even appear interested throughout. Odd. … Oh, and a SHOT.

• Much better couple of shifts. Still no shots. Halfway through.

• Two BIG hits from Letang. Place gets a little revved up.

• Super-annoying opponent. All over everything. On all pucks at all points.

• Acciari wanted that backward pass back right away. Can’t start a game like that. Handed Ehlers a partial break. Penalty. Power-play goal. All started there.

• GOAL: Aho fires a heavy wrister from far away. It hit Dewar’s stick on the way in, bouncing in a way that Skinner couldn’t handle. Assist: Jarvis. Time: 0:47. Hurricanes, 1-0

• PENALTY: Bad pass from Acciari in the offensive zone leads to a chance for Ehlers. Skinner makes a big save. Graves takes a tripping penalty on the chance.
