The Avalanche are back in a comfortable seat in the Central Division. They also got team captain Gabe Landeskog back in the lineup on Sunday. Also, the Red Wings are in ninth in the East as of Sunday evening, but the math is still slightly in their favor.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — March 23.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avalanche won again. And it was an impressive performance for a team that didn’t quite have its legs or many scoring chances before the third period began.

Colorado scored twice in the third and got an incredible OT play from Martin Necas to secure a second point.

The Avs also got captain Gabe Landeskog back, just in time to try to build back a cushion for the top seed in the Central Division. Landeskog scored Colorado’s first goal.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars fell to the Vegas Golden Knights in regulation, meaning Colorado now has a five-point advantage with a game in hand. It’s quite the change from how close things were when Dallas won that shootout at Ball Arena less than a week ago.
