The Senators are riding high, facing bad news, and looking to win a game on Tuesday. Detroit, on the other hand, can’t possibly lose this game to the Sens either. Also, the Avalanche can really take a stranglehold of the Central Division and the Flyers signed another ELC.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — March 24.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avalanche have an opportunity to put this Central Division race to bed. Just six days ago, things felt a little too close to comfort when Dallas won that shootout in Denver and pulled within two points. Even with a game in hand, the race was starting to get intense.

But if Colorado can defeat the Penguins, it’ll put them seven points up on the Stars with 70 games played for each club. Dallas also takes on New Jersey later in the evening. That game could also make this race a lot closer, or further apart, depending on how both games go.

Around The NHL

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers must’ve had a great draft in 2023, because they just signed their sixth entry-level contract from that crop.

Detroit Hockey Now: The biggest game of the season for the Red Wings is tonight, as they take on the Ottawa Senators. Could Detroit get a big piece back in the lineup just in time?

Florida Hockey Now: A glimmer of good news on the injury front for the Florida Panthers. Even though his season is likely over, it looks like the worst was avoided for defenseman Niko Mikkola.

Forever Blueshirts: The Rangers did something they haven’t done in 70 years on Monday, when they lost 2-1 to the Ottawa Senators. It’s not a record they’re proud of.

Ottawa Hockey Now: Even with that incredible performance, the Sens are in danger of losing an all-important battle to the Red Wings this evening, because of crucial injuries to their lineup.
