Calgary prospect Etienne Morin scored the insurance goal for the QMJHL champions Moncton Wildcats, beating and eliminating the hosts Rimouski Oceanic 6-2.

The team will now end the round-robin stage with a 1-1-0-1 (W-L-OTW-OTL) record .

In the tournament, Morin co-leads the team with two goals alongside Dyllan Gill and Gabe Smith.

That is the same amount of goals the 20-year-old had scored in his 19 QMJHL playoff games this past post-season, with his second goal coming in his 16th game. He had put up 18 assists, which he’s surprisingly had none of in the Memorial Cup.

The Quebec native usually thrives in special teams, putting up 10 power play assists, the highest in the QMJHL playoffs.

Unfortunately, the Wildcats power play hasn’t clicked, going 1-for-5 in the tournament.

Moncton will now face the OHL champions London Knights in the semi-final on Friday for the right to face Flames prospect Andrew Basha and the WHL champions Medicine Hat Tigers in the Final on Sunday.

Both games are slated to start at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT.
