Dylan Larkin said after the morning skate that he is hopeful of receiving medical clearance to play tonight against the Ottawa Senators.

“He’s looked good in practice,” Detroit coach Todd McLellan said. “With that being said, practice and games are way different at this time of the year. The physicality in practice isn’t as high as it is or was in November. You’re trying to conserve energy. But he’s found ways to physically be involved.”

The Red Wings will meet an Ottawa Senators playing the second game of back-to-back games. Ottawa has an injury-riddled defense.

Ottawa lost Thomas Chabot and Lassi Thompson to injuries in a 2-1 win over the New York Rangers Monday, leaving the team with only four healthy defensemen. They were already without Jake Sanderson, former Detroit defenseman Nick Jensen and Dennis Gilbert.

Ottawa Citizen’s Bruce Garrioch reported they have made two call-ups from the AHL.
