We have important news regarding young players in the Montreal Canadiens organization, and it will have an impact on Kent Hughes.

The college season has just ended for prospects Logan Sawyer and Emmett Croteau.

Providence was officially eliminated on the ice last night, as Logan Sawyer’s team lost by a score of 5-2 to Quinnipiac. In that bitter loss, Logan Sawyer still managed to score a goal.

It is worth recalling that at the 2024 draft, Logan Sawyer heard his name called after Ivan Demidov and Michael Hage.

Now, the Montreal Canadiens’ management will have to evaluate the next step in his development.

Signing his first professional contract is a possibility for this surprisingly promising player for the Canadiens.

Getting a simple tryout with the Laval Rocket also remains an option to finish the schedule.

Logically, a return to university for a third year seems like the most realistic scenario, but it is still something to watch. According to many, Kent Hughes should make a move in this case.

The Montreal Canadiens are also watching several young NCAA players very closely, by the way!

Goaltender Emmett Croteau also saw his journey come to an end with Dartmouth. His team was defeated by a score of 5-1 by the University of Wisconsin.

It will be worth watching whether the goaltender decides to leave school soon in order to possibly sign a contract as well.

Will Michael Hage join the Montreal Canadiens in the coming days?

When people talk about the NCAA and contracts, fans’ attention immediately turns to center Michael Hage.

As for him, you should know that the University of Michigan team will play a crucial elimination game this weekend.

On paper, the team has the talent necessary to win and continue its run, but we shall see. A surprise loss would mean the immediate end of his college hockey journey.

That specific scenario would directly open the door to a signing with the Montreal Canadiens.

Michael Hage could then play the final games of the regular season with the big club.
