Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather Saturday in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California in a day of protest.
The marches and rallies are part of the nationwide No Kings protests over federal policies.
In Los Angeles, Gloria Molina Grand Park near City Hall will be among the larger demonstrations. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. followed by a 3 p.m. march.
In an effort to keep participants from entering the nearby 101 Freeway, Caltrans crews Friday placed security gates on freeway ramps in the downtown area. The gates, which swing close across the ramp, were installed in response to previous protests that ended up blocking traffic on the freeway.
